This step-by-step guide will provide you will all the necessary steps to upload any specific folder into Filevine, regardless of what is in that folder. This is especially important when uploading Imaging documents.

Before we start this guide, please download 7zip from either Here on the web (64-Bit version) or install it from this location on the Z: Drive: Z:\7-Zip

(Feel free to reach out to IT if you feel uncomfortable installing the software on your own)

These are the steps to .zip the folder for upload:

  1. Locate the folder containing the files that you wish to upload to Filevine
  2. Right-click the folder, highlight 7-zip, and then choose the 5th option down
  3. You will then see this window, which is normal:
  4. When it is finished, you will see a file that looks like this next to your original folder:
    • Notice that the new file has .zip on the end
  5. Go to the location in Filevine that you are planning on uploading this .zip to
  6. Drag the .zip file that you just created into the location on Filevine
    • At the bottom left, this will pop up, and it means that your file is processing
    • If you are using Google Chrome, you may see this message:
      • Just click "Wait" and wait for the upload to finish
    • DO NOT REFRESH YOUR PAGE WHILE UPLOADING, EVEN IF IT LOOKS STUCK.
      • It is still processing your upload.
  7. Once your file is uploaded, the page will refresh and you should see your .zip file in the list of other FILES
    • This doesn't upload it as a folder, and will not be in the list of folders at the top

And that is how you create a .zip file and upload it into Filevine. Please email the Help Desk if you have any questions.
