The VPN (Virtual Private Network) is an enhanced internet connection that allows you to pretend you're in the office without actually being in the office. As such, it will also not work when you're in the office.

This article will show you how to connect to the VPN.

  1. Make sure the DUO app is closed (ie, not open) on your cell phone.
  2. When you login to your laptop, go to the Start Menu and open a folder called Cisco, and then click on the “Cisco Anyconnect” program
  3. When that opens, make sure it says this in the dropdown field:
    1. If it doesn’t, please input: vpn.burgsimpson.com
  4. Click Connect
  5. Put in your login information (username and password) that you would use in the office.
  6. You will then be prompted by the DUO app to either Authorize or Deny the connection. Choose Authorize.
  7. It should then connect to the VPN.

Common Issues when connecting:

  1. When I try to connect, it says "Login Failed"
    • This probably means that your password has expired. Please email the help desk (help@burgsimpson.com) to get assistance with changing your password.
  2. When I try to connect, it says "connection failed."
    • Confirm you are not in the office. The VPN will not work when in the office
    • Confirm that in the box it says "vpn.burgsimpson.com". If not, please input that and try again.
  3. When I try to connect, it tells me about an untrusted certificate
    • Click the check box to import the certificate, and then choose the "Connect Anyway" option.
  4. When I try to connect, I don't get the prompt from Duo
    • It is critical to have the DUO app closed on your mobile device before trying to connect to the VPN.
